Recreational divers medical (fit to dive medical)
Required for anyone over 45, or who answers *yes* to any question on the Diver Medical Participant questionnaire.
This is a face to face general medical examination concentrating on personal medical factors highlighted by positive answers to the questionnaire. It includes lung function testing. Please bring along details of any significant medical conditions that you have had or are currently suffering from, together with a list of any medication the you are taking.

HSE DIVERS MEDICAL
Required for anyone who is being paid to go diving, diving for media, scientific purposes , teaching diving, or in charge of other divers under water.
This is a full medical as prescribed by the HSE, includes medical history,medication, diving history, history of any dive related illness, biometric measurements, cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, ENT, gastroenterological,vision, and mobility examination. Also urinalysis audiometry (first time and every 5 year) lung function, and fitness testing (VO2MAX). The fitness standard is quite high. If you cannot comfortably manage to run 5K, you are unlikely to pass.

Candidates undertaking their first HSE medical MUST complete HSE's "Medical Questionaire For Diving At Work" which can be downloaded here. This should be countersigned by your usual doctor, and you should bring it to the medical examination.
Candidates having a second or subsequent HSE examination do not require the questionnaire as long as their previous HSE medical is still in date.
OEUK EXAMINATION
This is a medical for offshore oil and gas workers. It is valid for the British, Norwegian and Dutch sectors. Sometimes employers require this medical to work in other areas, such as Angola, Middle East. It looks particularly for conditions or medication that could give rise to sudden incapacity, that could arise for employees working in remote locations (Offshore Platforms), where advanced medical care might not be available, and immediate evacuation is not always possible.

The normal medical comprises a full history and examination, biometric measurements urinalysis, audiometry, vision, and lung function testing.
If booked at the time, the medical includes the fitness to train examination (£40 if booked separately)

FIT TO TRAIN MEDICAL
This is usually part of the OEUK medical but can be offered as a stand alone examination. It is
mainly concerned with lung function, and ENT issues.

This is required by some employers for employees who are travelling by helicopters.

RENEWABLES INDUSTRY MEDICALS
This is a full medical required for employees working in the offshore renewables industry. It includes urinalysis, audiometry, lung function testing and fitness testing. The emphasis is on examining mobility, balance, and any conditions that can give rise to sudden incapacity.​
